China Baowu Steel Group Co, China’s largest steel producer by capacity and headquartered in East China’s Shanghai municipality, has begun constructing a third blast furnace at its new steelworks in Zhanjiang city in South China’s Guangdong province, according to a release of Baowu’s official website on April 2.
At 5,050 cu m, the third blast furnace will be identical in size to the two now in operation at the Zhanjiang steelworks, according to an earlier announcement from Guangdong’s Department of Industry and Information Technology, and is expected to be ignited by July 2021, Baowu said in its release.
